Extra Credit Question for Tuesday: The Giver
A “Utopia” is a perfect world or society while a “Dystopia” is a world that is supposed to be perfect but turns horribly wrong. Is the world described in the Giver a utopia or a dystopia? Give 2 examples to support your answer.

I think that the world in "The Giver" is sort of a Utopia. I say this because there is really no violence or anything that could could turn horribly wrong in that world. But there still was death (of Caleb), crying, and it was not always happy for Jonas and other people. This is why I think that it was sort of a Utopia.=)
The Giver became a dystopia in two ways. Jonas father killed a baby in which in a Utopia there is no killing. The community has no type of emotions of love and hatred untill of corse Jonas left...The Utopia became corrupted
I think that the world in "The Giver" is a Utopian society, because they tried to make their community perfect by banishing violence, sex, or anything that brings pandemonium, but I also think that it is a Dystopian society because the Nurturers had to kill innocent children if they don't become perfect by their 1st year.Also,Older people had to get released, which means killed for no good reason, which I think it is cruel to kill people for no reason.

i think the it is a dystopia because people took every good difference form them and made it they same.also thers no colors and love which is bad
